Thursday, 2/20/2003: Fly American Airlines through Miami to San Jose, Costa Rica. Rendezvous with Deb, who has been studying in Nicaragua, and stay overnight at Hotel Don Carlos, San Jose.

OSA PENINSULA:

Friday, 2/21: Fly Sansa to the Osa Peninsula (Drake Bay). Stay La Paloma Lodge (four nights) with trips to Corcovado jungle and Cano Island/reef.

ARENAL VOLCANO:

Tuesday, 2/25: Fly NatureAir from Drake Bay to San Jose. Transfer to Arenal Lodge (two nights).

PUERTO VIEJO de SARIPIQUI:

Thursday, 2/27: Picked up at Arenal Lodge by naturalist Alex Martinez and transported to his B&B, Posada Andrea Cristina in Puerto Viejo de Saripiqui (two nights).

CENTRAL VALLEY:

Saturday, 3/1: Drop Deb in San Jose for her bus to Managua and continue to Vista del Valle Plantation Inn in Alujela (2 nights).

Monday, 3/3: Return to Washington.
