Venice
OK, so we start out by showing us as much as showing the city. But
it was our 25th anniversary back in 1996...so maybe we're entitled.
Late May/early June was a divine time to see Venice. The walkways
were not too crowded...the air was fresh...the water seemed (and smelled)
clean. Leaving the train station, you get into a vaporetto and motor
down the Grand Canal. Since the Hotel Flora was "at the end of the
line" near the Piazza San Marco, we gaped at the sights along the
entire canal...rolled our suitcases through the famous sights of the
square...enjoyed a short walk over a couple of bridges to our hotel...and
had a tour of the glories of Venice before even checking in!
